We are living peacefully in our homes, while our soldiers are stationed at the borders, leaving behind their families to protect our security. The Tamil film Amaran, released this Diwali on October 31, 2024, portrays the hardships endured by military personnel and the mental and emotional pain their families experience.
Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy and starring Sivakarthikeyan, Sai Pallavi, Rahul Bose, and Bhuvan Arora, Amaran tells the true story of Major Mukund Varadarajan, a commissioned officer in the Indian Army’s Rajput Regiment. Major Mukund was awarded the Ashok Chakra for his bravery during a counter-terrorism operation while serving in the 44th Rashtriya Rifles battalion in Jammu and Kashmir.
