Well, the September 13, 2024 Netflix release “Uglies” is an answer to all these questions that whether or not, looking pretty can actually change everything. The film is directed by Joseph McGinty Nichol popular as McG and the cast includes Joey King, Brianne Tju, Chase Stokes, Keith Powers, etc.
The plot of the film ‘Uglies’ is set in a world where everyone has a compulsory surgery at the age of 16 that completely removes any physical differences and makes the people meet the so called set, “beauty standards”. The protagonist of the film is Tally, who always believed that she was not pretty and wanted for the day she’d turn 16, so that she could undergo the surgery and become attractive so that everything could change.
The trailer of the film gives us a clear idea as to how Tally saw everyone go through the surgery and transform, and was excited about the same. However, when she gets to the other side of the world, she gets to know the harsh realities and the negative aspects of this surgery. Also, one of her friends escaped because of the doubts of becoming pretty.
Now, it would be interesting to watch the Uglies and find out whether or not Tally undergo the surgery? Does it change everything for her and much more.
